Many people try to get through their test quickly by taking a driving crash test. Beware though – it seems to me that a crash course is not an easy way to pass your test. The standard of driving required is just the same as for people taking traditional “one a week” driving lessons.
I guess that a crash course would be good for someone who needs to pass their test quickly, for instance for their job, or in the summer holidays before going off to uni. However, i imagine that there would be a fair bit of pressure, if you start the course on a moinday knowing that you’ve got the driving test at the end of the week.
Of course you will also need to do your driving theory test, so it might be best to get that out of the way before applying for an intensive course.
Once upon a time almost every pub had its piano in the corner and someone who could belt out a few tunes for a good old sing song. Nowdays, the piano has made way for the jukebox or karaoke machine. However there are still plenty of pubs that make room for the locals to perform.
Whatever kind of instrument you want to learn to play, you will find it beneficial to have access to sheet music of some kind. In classical music, this will often take the form of the full score written down for the particular instrument and annotated on a stave, showing the timing of the piece, the key it’s in as well as the notes to be played and the length that each note should last. Folk music, traditionally has been passed on in aural form, but many songs have been put into written form and thus been transmitted to a wider audience.
Popular music, be it rock, pop or other sub-genres is often annotated using guitar tabs. This avoids the need for the musician to be able to “read music”, rather he just has to follow the tablature. Such tabs can however be fairly inaccurate and are usually used to supplement the guitarist listening to the piece of music and then playing back what he has just heard.
Sheet music can prove fairly expensive, although when bought in a book with other songs, this can keep the price down. With the advent of the internet, sheet music has become more widely available and there are reputable sources of Free Sheet Music online.
Well, not for the first time, England seem to have thrown away the opportunity for an easy test win. Having bowled the Aussies out for a modest 268, a solid consolidating batting performance was required. But no, the usual England collapse ensued, being bowled out for an embarrassingly low 187. Maybe the England batsmen were celebrating victory a little too soon.
One good thing though – weather permitting, this match is likely to end with a positive result. With Australia well into their second innings before day 3 has even started, it looks unlikely that this will go to a draw.

A rational view will at least concede that there are valid points on both sides of the debate. Some feel that education should be free and that charging up to £9000 a year in tuition fees will price poorer people out of education. On the other hand there are those who say that loans do nbot have to be repaid until the student is earning a decent wage, and that since they will earn more as a result of having a degree that it’s only fair that they pay for it. Alongside that is the argument that students from poorer families will get massive subsidies and grants. Although why the parents income of a 20 year old should make a difference to their entitlement may be slightly unfair.
It’s certainly true that under the current system, the well off families subsidise their childrens university time massively, whilst the parents of the less well off are unable to. This is in itself a massive inequality.
And then the riots … looks to me like more an opportunity to do a bit of vandalism than anything else
Seems to me that the whole wikileaks thing is a storm in a teacup as far as the UK is concerned.
It doesn’t seem that much has been said that is a profound secret. So the Governor of the Bank of England was concerned about the Tories lack of experience. Yes well they hadn’t been in government in umpteen years so of course they lack experience. Prince Andrew spoke rudely to someone – yes …and…
Probably the main real damage is within the middle east where leaks allege that middle eastern leaders were wanting the US to attack Iran.
However we should remember that some of these leaks are in fact only reports of what someone said someone said and so may be prone to serious exaggeration. When you overhear some gossip in the street, the gossip is not always true, and so the same may be true in respect of many of these stories.
Of course the media wants to whip the whole thing up, because it makes great news for them!
